This years race is the BWA DOESN'T EXIST edition whereby the Louisville Vikings will look to continue their dominance over their cross state rival, the Bluegrass Wildwater Association. Just ask Coach Cal.
"It's a unique thing," Calamari said. "There's no other state, none, that's as connected to their whitewater clubs as this one. It's the Louisville Vikings throughout this whole state, and that's what makes it unique."
And who wouldn't believe that guy? Consider staying home and nursing your Friday night NPFF party hangovers BWA...the Viking paddlespan is too huge.
YOU MUST REGISTER (CLICK HERE) BEFORE NOON ON FEB 24TH.
If you fail to register online there is no guarantee you'll make it onto the racers list.
Be at the Elkhorn Acres Take-Out Before Noon day of race.
The race will be mass start below the dam and run to the Shaffley's take out.
All boats will start from shore, boats over 10 feet will start bassackwards.
There will be 2 classes: guys & dames.
Most importantly, there will also be a club championship. Any "whitewater club" with 5 racers can join...this is not just VCC vs. BWA.
Club teams need at least 5 members to qualify. We will use Cross Country Scoring...it goes like this: the top five finishers from each club add their finish order together to get a score, lowest combined club score wins.
Remember...the NPFF has nothing to do with this race so don't go asking NPFF volunteers questions about it. They have other things to worry about.
PS...this is going to be a "fun run". Paddlers that wouldn't normally do a downriver race should definitely get out and give it a shot!
